You’ll Figure It Out: Will, Yogi & Jesus

John Sheda.
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed reading about different people and listening to various philosophies about life. The clever wit of Will Rogers has always captivated me and one of my favorites of all time, Yogi Berra, often had a most perfect way of putting things into their proper perspective. Finally, the words from the Bible, (not necessarily Jesus, but I think He is behind it all) has brought me peace and sometimes even wisdom about the really important things in life. Here are a few quotes from each:
Will Rogers
Never miss a good chance to shut up. (love that one)
Remember to always drink upstream from the herd.
When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than getting him back in.
After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you full of bull, keep your mouth shut!
Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment.
There are three kinds of men in the world; those who learn by reading; a few who learn by observation and the vast majority who have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.
Yogi Berra
Baseball is 90% mental but the other half is physical.
When you come to the fork in the road, take it.
Why buy good luggage? You only use It when you travel.
You can observe a lot by just watching.
You always give 100% of yourself the first half of the game. If that doesn’t work, you give what you have left in the second half.
I knew I was going to take the wrong train, so I left early. (Come on, we’ve all done something like this)
I’m not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.
Jesus
Which of you by worrying can add even one second onto your life? (Matthew 6:27)
A happy heart is good like a medicine but a broken spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)
There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, (Romans 8:1)
What is required of you? To love mercy, to do justly and to walk humbly with God. (Micah 6:8
For God so loved the world that he gave……. (John 3:16)
