You’ll Figure It Out: Kids say the darndest things!

John Sheda.
I’m sure most remember that show hosted by none other than Art Linkletter. Wonder why we never see re-runs of this. It was hilarious. Well, since school is just around the corner, I thought it would be interesting to read about some funny things kids have said and done—all in a school day’s work!
First off, one first grade school teacher in Somewhere, USA, challenged her students to finish the following well-known proverbs, giving them only the first half of each proverb. Here are some of their answers:
If at first you don’t succeed………………………….”get new batteries.”
Don’t bite the hand that……………………………….”is dirty.”
No news is………………………………………………….”impossible.”
Two’s company, three’s……………………………….”the Musketeers.”
Children should be seen and not…………………”ever spanked or grounded.”
A penny saved is…………………………………………”not gonna help you too much.”
And teachers around the country shared some of their funnies simply called, “Kids are Quick.”
TEACHER: Maria, please go to the map and find North America. MARIA: Ok. TEACHER: Johnny, now who discovered America? JOHNNY: Maria.
TEACHER: Billy, how do you spell ‘crocodile’? BILLY: K-R-O-K-A-D-I-A-L. TEACHER: No, that’s wrong. BILLY: Wrong? You asked me how I spelled it.
TEACHER: Tonya, do you say your prayers before you eat? TONYA: Only when my dad is cooking.
TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father’s cherry tree, but he also right away admitted it. Now, Louis, do you know why his father didn’t punish him? LOUIS: Maybe because George still had the axe in his hand.
TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water? DONALD: H I J K L M N O. TEACHER: What in the world are you talking about? DONALD: Yesterday, you said it was H to O.
School begins in a couple of weeks, so you can probably count on hot weather. In my humble opinion, (even though no one cares), I think that every school district should start the Tuesday after Labor Day and end on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. Every school district could figure out it’s own breaks, days off and in service days. August is just too early! Let me know what you think a johndebsheda@gmail.com or call me at 319.327.4640.
