You’ll Figure It Out: My “Hole-in-the-Bucket” List!

John Sheda
I greatly enjoyed Rev. Mike Nodland’s article of last week and what a novel idea, the “Anti-Bucket” list. So I commenced thinking of all the silly, goofy and downright stupid things I’ve tried in my life, I give you MY lists of things I shall never, ever do again.
First off, I shall never eat liver & onions again. Many rave about this delicacy so some 30 years ago, I gave it a try. Liver & onions is terrible. Never again!!
Locking the car keys inside my car. To be honest, I’ve done this several times over the years but not for a long time, (knock on wood).
Hitchhike. In my 20’s hitchhiking was kinda fun. Picking up a hitchhiker also was fun. But, ah, I don’t think so anymore.
This one is a tad embarrassing. I’ll never risk it and pass up several gas stations in order to find one that’s a little cheaper. That’s the “Sheda” in me.
I’ll never own a pet snake again. It seemed like a good idea at the time until I lost it in the house. Yikes!
Another embarrassing one. I’ll never ask someone (this was years ago), to give me a “perm.” Didn’t turn out well and besides I have no hair now.
I’ll never ever smoke another cigarette, (or anything else) again. Nasty habit.
There’s a board game called “Red-Neck Life,” which I’ll never play again. It was fun one time but after 4 hours it ceased to be fun.
Oops, another embarrassing and stupid one. I’ll never stick my “pinky finger” in one of those desk pencil sharpeners again. And yes, I did and yes, it hurt.
I’ll never eat sushi again. Like the liver and onions thing, I thought, what the heck but guess what? It really is raw fish.
I’ll never climb the water tower in Chelsea, (or anywhere else) ever again. That was scary!!
Of these eleven items above, there is one that I never actually did. Which one do you think that was? Call me at 319.327.4640 or email me at johndebsheda@gmail.com and if you guess which one that is, I’ll watch out for you while you climb the Chelsea water tower. Good luck. Thank you Rev. Mike for the great idea. I have absolutely no problem “stealing” someone else’s ideas. Have a great week.
