Just Jonathan: Feeling the fall
Jonathan Meyer.
Can you smell it? While the question might be a strange one to start off with I’ll tell you I certainly can! Fall is in the air and I am yearning for some fun fall cliches.
What started me on this sudden kick of autumnal awesomeness was Starbucks releasing their pumpkin spice drink line even earlier than previous years. After hearing the news I rushed out and got myself a hot pumpkin spice latte and enjoyed the seasonal promotion regardless of the fact it was still August. I’ve made pumpkin spice a tradition with my roommate Chris, after long runs we go and get coffee together. Enjoying pumpkin spice is a true commitment to the art of autumn.
Another fall activity I will most certainly indulge in is the pumpkin patch. Nothing can compare to a crisp morning of adventure, searching for the biggest, most beautiful orange pumpkin. As a kid I made it my mission to find the biggest pumpkin imaginable and watch as my dad effortlessly carried the pumpkin back to the car. Now that I can carry my own pumpkin I opt for a more modest size. The pumpkin patch is a seasonal staple that cannot and will not be ignored!
I’ll mention another cliche that might surprise some people, while not the biggest fan of football I can get into a good game every now and then. Having a game playing in the living room as some chili cooks in the crock-pot is simply unmatched. Let’s be honest, football season is more about the vibes and experience rather than game play (I’m sure that is a non-controversial haha).
As you can tell I am very very excited about this time of year. Something I failed to mention enough earlier in the piece, none of these experiences are memorable without friends and family surrounding you. Here’s to a fantastic fall!
