Pastor’s Corner: “Peace-full dreamers!”

Pastor Mike Nodland of the Christian Fellowship Church in Vining, IA.

I’ve always been skeptical of dreams and dreamers. Personal experience tells me that when my mind is thrown into neutral as my head hits the bedtime pillow, bizarre dreams erupt. One dream had me “running” on a treadmill down an interstate highway in my robe. In another dream, I hosted a party where the food kept falling off the table. I was running all over the place catching plates of food.

But some folks have genuine dreams. Two Josephs in the Bible had legitimate dreams. Of Joseph and Mary, he was told in a dream to take his family and flee to Egypt to thwart King Herod’s murderous mandate. The brothers of Joseph in the book of Genesis murderously plotted against him, saying “Behold, this dreamer cometh…let us slay him…”

But for Martin Luther King, who had a dream of peace, he was slain! His message was that there is a sustainable solution to the injustices and violence in the world, according to The King Center. He was preceded by another king who came to proclaim, “Peace on earth, good will to all!” He was King Jesus, also slain! His message is peace with God through Him. Knowing Peace is to Know Him! Trust in Him today and keep peace alive!
