Pastor’s Corner: Dominoes!

Pastor Mike Nodland of the Christian Fellowship Church in Vining, IA.

As a little kid, dominoes were for lining up in a row and knocking the first one down followed by each successive domino knocking the next one down. I didn’t yet know how to play the game, but had fun, anyway.

Recently, we needed new flooring in our kitchen, but our refrigerator was leaking. So, we replaced it with one with an ice maker, requiring a waterline to the basement. Shutting off the waterline to install the new refrigerator, the installers broke the shutoff valve and water shot out all over. Attempting to shut off the main shutoff valve in the yard, it was determined that it, too, was impossible to turn off.

The refrigerator installers had to repair the broken valve “live” and the basement began to dry; but it wouldn’t dry out. Water was oozing from a basement floor pipe. Capping that pipe, water continued oozing elsewhere. A dry basement solutions company finally brought this saga to an end.

Dominoes — one thing led to another! Of greatest significance is that man has sinned and cannot save himself by himself. So, God provided His “shutoff” valve — Jesus Christ — to stop the flow of sin in our lives. Like Noah, avoid the flood! Trust in Jesus Christ for eternal life!
