Hey, driver! What’s that?
Pastor Mike Nodland of the Christian Fellowship Church in Vining, IA.
One of life’s little annoyances is a braggart! I read a story about one of these egotistical narcissists. There was a sightseeing bus making its rounds through Washington, D.C., and the driver was pointing out the high points of the city.
Passing the Pentagon building, the driver recalled that it had cost American taxpayers millions of dollars to build in a year and a half. While the tourists looked on, an elderly woman in the back of the bus piped up and said, “In Peoria, we could have built the same building for less and it would have been finished sooner!”
Passing by the Justice Department building, the bus driver recounted that it cost many millions to build and took two years to complete. Again, the elderly woman yelled out, “In Peoria, we would have built that for less money and finished it much sooner!”
Driving on, the tour bus came to the Lincoln Memorial. Driving slowly by, the driver didn’t say a word. Curious, the elderly woman shouted to the driver, “Hey, what’s that tall white building we just passed?” The driver looked out his window, waited a minute and then said, “Search me, lady! It wasn’t here yesterday!”
The writer of Psalm 34:2 said that one thing worth boasting about is in the LORD! Do you know Him?
