I know school in some shape and form has been going on for a little while now, but this has given everyone some time to prepare for the first “quiz” of the Fall Quarter. Remember those “pop-quizzes” we used to get back in the stone age? Well, we have brought them back to life again. So here is your first “pop-quiz” of the new school year. No googling them…..until everyone in your family has had a chance at answering them:

How many “favorite things” are listed in the song My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music?

Susie’s mother had three children. The first child was named April; the second was named May. What was the third child’s name?

There are four states where the first letter of the capital city is the same letter as the first letter of the state. Can you get all four of them?

This is easy one for you farm guys and gals but a toughie for the city slickers; What is a “Capon?”

What is unique about this sentence, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”

Like riddles? “The one who builds it, sells it; the one who buys it, doesn’t use it; The one who uses it, doesn’t know it.” What is it?

Can you name all seven continents? Without looking them up on your phone!!

If you were challenged with a million dollar prize to give the meaning of the word “flapdoodle,” would you think pancake, sidewalk chalk art, an old honky tonk or just plain old nonsense?

Can you name the eight planets of the solar system…in the order of their distance from the sun? Ah, put that phone away!!

And finally, which of these statements is false: a group of kangaroos is a mob; a group of whales is a pod; a group of bison is a keg; a group of cats is a clowder?

Bonus question: If you were to spell each number starting with “o-n-e, t-w-o, t-h-r-e-e,” how many numbers would you have to spell to finally use the letter “A?”
