“T.M.I.—Hogwash!”

Pastor Mike Nodland

Growing up on a farm in northern Iowa in the 50’s, we lost a hog which slipped on ice and had a split pelvis. Having to put it down, the butcher came to our farm and slaughtered the hog. Nothing was as fascinating to a little kid than watching the dressing out of that hog! But nothing was sadder than when I found it was a sow with a litter lost. As I described this to my wife, she stopped me with “T.M.I.!”-“Too Much Information!”

But one thing is sadder: our farmers losing their livestock and their livelihood. Prices have plunged throughout the farming industry and they need our prayers. know some are uncomfortable with prayer, so may I suggest the following prayer for us to join in lifting them to God in this very difficult time? This prayer comes from First Chronicles 4:10.

Heavenly Father: for our farmers, “Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!” In Jesus name, Amen!

And God gave Jabez that which he requested! And that’s no hogwash!
