What people say about politics and politicians

John Sheda
It seems the political season arrives earlier every year. They should regulate it like they do the hunting season. The promises they make, the changes they will enact, the problems they blame on others and the utopian life we will experience if we vote for this person or that person. We have Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Politician. Down through the years a lot of famous and not so famous people have talked about our politics and our politicians. Here’s what a few of them have said over the years….
Politicians and diapers should be changed frequently and all for the same reason. Will Rogers
Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river. ~Nikita Khrushchev
George Washington is the only president who didn’t blame the previous administration for his troubles. ~Author Unknown
A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn’t happen – Winston Churchill
We believe that to err is human. To blame it on someone else is politics – Hubert H. Humphrey
No one party can fool all of the people all of the time; that’s why we have two parties – Bob Hope
If ‘pro’ is the opposite of ‘con’ what is the opposite of ‘progress’? – Paul Harvey
Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies. GROUCHO
“My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.” Abraham Lincoln
“In politics, stupidity is not a handicap.” – Napoleon Bonaparte
“Too bad that all the people who know how to run the country are busy driving taxicabs and cutting hair.” George Burns
Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost. John Quincy Adams
Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book. Ronald Reagan
Some men change their party for the sake of their principles; others their principles for the sake of their party. ~Winston Churchill
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics or in religion or in philosophy as a cause for withdrawing from a friend.-Thomas Jefferson
I don’t make jokes at all. I just watch our government at work and report the facts.-Will Rogers
