Inventory – defying trucker!

Pastor Mike Nodland

About 5 decades ago, I took a famous, national inventory in college to see where my interests lie. Many of the findings shocked me while others made sense.

It told me to avoid truck driving, interior designing, art teaching and home economics! I don’t contest the latter three, but I do like driving a truck. Whether it’s a rental moving truck, furniture truck or an V-1234xyz, there’s just something about stomping on the gas pedal and lurching forward or slamming on the brakes a milli-inch behind a mini-van that gratifies every ounce of testosterone in a man.

This highly acclaimed inventory also told me to avoid careers in farming-but I grew up on a farm and have compulsively dug up and planted gardens ever since. And the inventory told me to avoid being a YMCA secretary-like that idea ever crossed my mind!

The inventory did tell me to pursue a career in TV repair but avoid a career as an electrician! Go figure! It also told me to avoid a career as a musician-Yah! I had to be told that-really?

Interests may change, but I’ll stay with my highest calling: “Living for Jesus-forever!”Inventory – defying trucker!
