Inaguaration Day, 2017

John Sheda

Well in a week or so, we will be inaugurating Donald J. Trump as our 45th President of the United States. For probably the first time in history, or at least a very very long time, people are wondering just what the next four years is going to be like. And even more specifically, what 2017 is gonna be like as Mr. Trump takes center stage on the world’s scene. Will the wall be built? Will Mexico write the check? Are sanctuary cities a thing of the past? And just what’s gonna happen to “ObamaCare?” Will we have a new and improved “TrumpCare?” The questions go on and on, but one thing’s for sure, after next Friday, January 20, 2017, Mr. Trump will become our 45th President. For about half of you, you’re scared as all “get-out” and for the other half, you’re so excited you could spit! Whichever you are, it’s going to be interesting for sure.

With that in mind, I’ve come up with a little Presidential inauguration Quiz for you. Are ya ready?? Here we go…

1. Who actually swears in the President?

2. There has been only one President sworn in by a woman. Which President was this?

3. The incoming President is required by the Constitution to take the Presidential oath with his hand on the Bible. True or False?

4. The incoming President places his hand on an opened Bible. To what passage is the Bible opened to?

5. However, there was one President that did not say his oath on the Bible. Was it Herbert Hoover, Barrack Obama, Harry S. Truman or Teddy Roosevelt?

That’s it! Just five simple questions about inauguration Day. Good Luck, Mr. President. Let’s Make America Great Again. Here are your answers:

1. Usually the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court does this but actually any active United States Judge can do so.

2. On November 22, 1963, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in on Air Force One by Judge Sarah Hughes.

3. The Constitution does not state this at all and there is no law requiring the swearing in on the Bible.

4. The opened portion of the Bible is left to the discretion of the new President. No two passages have been duplicated by any of the Presidents so far.

5. President Theodore Roosevelt did not get sworn in on the Bible.
