As I was leaving Toledo’s nursing home I was talking to a former entertainer of the Wieting. He said he still entertains at the area nursing homes.

He was telling me about entertaining at Urbandale’s nursing home for two former Toledo residents. He asked if I remember Bernice Willer and Darlene Youngman? I said, of course. They requested them to come down and entertain them plus the other residents there. They did.

The entertainers are Frank and Marce Nekola. Yes, they are still active and instead of Geri Campbell being on the piano, her daughter “Cat” Campbell plays with them.

Geri is in a nursing home in Dubuque. The Nekolas were up to visit Geri at Dubuque along with “Cat.” They all played and sang for the residents up there.

Frankie mentioned that they are cutting back this winter. Not doing much in January and Frbruary.

Thank you to the Nekolas for all the years you volunteered at the Wieting and for entertaining at a lot of nursing homes close and far away. I miss the old get togethers on the stage.
