Market Report for July 1, 2016
Large crowd, beautiful night what more could the Toledo Farmers’ Market ask for? Kristi had her table full of delicious bakery and red raspberries. Some of the items she had were kolaches, pies, breads, rolls, rolicky, bars, including million dollar bars. Vernon and Wilma brought eggs. Cindy had taters, kohlrabi, and the last of the peas. Caryn brought jams, caramel corn and snack mixes. Rumor has it she will be at market on the 8th with her cotton candy machine. Darold’s table included potatoes, beets, kohlrabi, cauliflower, peppers, Chinese cabbage, and regular cabbage. Shirley and Michael brought kolaches, buchty, rolicky, and noodles. Chuck and Ginger were under the red maple with beets, broccoli, zucchini, leeks, summer squash, cabbage, taters, green beans, eggs, pies, breads, popcorn, dried pepper powder, and summer squash. Tom and Nancy had currents, jalapenos, green peppers, zucchini, jams, and an assortment of frozen buffalo meat. Dawn had jams, rosettes, dried herbs, cake stands, tiki torches, leeks, beets, turnips, houseplants, green onions, sweet onions, Swiss chard, and taters. Sheryl brought her ceramics, including those team football night lights. She also had towel sets, microwave bowl holders, scrubbies, recycle bags, adult clothing protectors, and her smile. Janice was under her tent with bundt cake, cookies, rolls, breads, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, and her instant oatmeal mix. Vicky, of those sisters, was there with birdhouses made from gourds, egg gourds waiting for something to be made out of them like her egg gourd wreath, bottle tree garland, chandelier made from recycled glass pieces. She also brought Karen’s house screen that has the American flag painted on it. But it is gone; it’s now hanging on my wall. Love it. Janet had eggs, cookies, and breads. Joe and Barb brought breads, granola, crisp, sweet onions, broccoli, carrots, kohlrabi, taters, onions, cabbage, beets and jams, including one made out of Saskatoon berries. Karen had her soy candles and soy products with her today. Kathy had a table full of bakery including kolaches, rolls, snack mix, bread, Danish, olive and onion bread and butter finger bars. June was back with turnips, beets, peas, tators, onions, radish, cabbage, broccoli, and zucchini. Red Earth Gardens brought kale, garlic scapes, turnips, mix salad greens, garlic chives, bagged spinach, and swiss chard. That was the line up for the Toledo Farmers’ Market on July 1st.
Next week is the Stop Light Festival. It might be a little difficult to find your favorite vendor. The line up will be mixed up a little. The vendors will from the middle of Broadway Street south, then west on High Street to the sidewalk that goes up to the courthouse doors. Be sure to come out and make your market purchases from 5-7 pm. See you there.
