Toledo Farmers Market
The Toledo Farmers Market started with the blow of the whistle and 10 anxious vendors ready to sell. Those vendors that were so glad to meet and greet their customers were Kristi, Devin and her little guy, Darold, Ginger, Dawn, Sheryl, Lester and Thea, Vernon and Wilma, the Kubik family, and the Neiland girls. Chuck we missed you and your complaints so get healed and back to market soon.
With a good size crowd the vendor’s tables didn’t stay full for long. Some of the items available this first night of market were breads, pies, made from scratch angel food cakes, energy bites, cookies, rosettes, good Czech bakery, snack mixes, popcorn, dried pepper powder, dried herbs, eggs and more eggs, iris plants, jams, jellies, soy candles, swiss chard plants, houseplant transplants, hollyhock plants, ceramics, homemade kitchen potholders and towel sets, rhubarb, asparagus, and cat nip. I am sure I missed something.
Be sure to mark your calendars and come on out to the Toledo Farmers Market on Friday nights from 5-7 pm on the east side of the Courthouse square. Our market recorders told me we have 27 weeks of market in 2014, so that means we have 26 more weeks to go.
Next week I am sure we will see a lot of asparagus and rhubarb. We all need a little heat and the veggies will be popping out of the ground and begging us to pick them. With the sun shining and the ground drying this vendor needs to get out and finish planting. See you at market.
