Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
As a 4th generation cattle farmer in Tama County, I want to take time during National
Agriculture Week to thank our community for their support. While there continues to be more
food choices at the grocery store, we know that many fill their carts with real meat instead of
meat alternatives. As livestock farmers, we are proud to produce a product that is safe and
wholesome for others.
Our family works alongside our local veterinarian to ensure that animal health and
welfare are our top priority. For example, there have been great strides taken in low stress
handling and antibiotic stewardship. Agriculture is constantly evolving and farmers are
dedicated to implementing new advancements for the betterment of the animals and
consumers. Together with our veterinarian, we produce meat that is not only safe for our family,
but for yours as well. Meat is a great source of protein and nutrients that us farmers are honored
to put on your family’s table.
I take pride in producing safe, nutritious beef for my family and yours. Us farmers are
dedicated to producing quality meat for generations to come. While there are many choices at
the grocery store, I encourage you to try some beef, pork, chicken, or turkey the next time you
are shopping and support your local family farmers.
Sincerely,
