Critical of financial support for Edel

Letter to the Editor:

We might want to quit electing the multi-billionaire Koch brothers to federal and statehouses and senates. Although they are not on the ballot, they continue their quest to rule this country by owning our governments.

Their PAC’s are currently financially supporting local candidate Jeff Edel. When reading his political literature, look for Americans for Prosperity or Freedom Partners Action Fund.

Citizen’s United decision allows the ultra-rich to shower candidates with money. Why is this a problem? Look at Koch-sponsored Joni Ernst as an example. Although she accepted half a million in farm subsidies, she voted against subsidies for wind power even though Iowa is the number one state in wind power and it is a major industry for us. Her problem was that the Koch brothers are big oil, and wind power is definitely not on their want list.

The Kochs also believe that social programs like Social Security and Medicare should not exist but should be weakened, dismantled, and/or privatized. Being huge polluters, they also want to end the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA has pesky regulations that force the Kochs to clean up their messes.

Look for Koch sponsorship – getting rid of “regualtions, ” saving Social Security by raising the retirement age, opposition to ethanol and wind power. This and the PAC name will indicate the candidate is a Koch puppet.
