Warns again of possible U.S. 30 overpass danger
Mr. Herald Chronicle
Letters to the Editor:
Regarding the chasm at the north end of the new overpass near Fareway: I spoke to one of the Tama officials. He referred me to the Toledo officials but implied it is really a problem for DOT or DNR and “there isn’t much we can do but don’t give up”.
I did notice the DOT or DNR or whoever the responsible party, did erect a barrier. It’s orange plastic with holes.
Next week when the ice forms and the snow plow pushes that plastic snow fence over the edge, there will still be a giant chasm for any unlucky soul who hits the ice just a bit wrong. Which one of you citizen officials who are “powerless to do anything” are willing to sacrifice their life or the life of their child? Whoever you are, and only you know who you are, please, please insist upon a barrier to keep drivers and passengers safer on that over pass. I do not believe the DOT or the DNR are too bureaucratic and powerful to be accountable for public safety. I will be calling them as well.
