to participate in vote

DES MOINES Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has announced a partnership with 38 colleges and universities across the state for the inaugural Iowa College Voter Engagement Drive. Additionally the Secretary of State’s Office launched a new voter engagement tool, entitled My Iowa Vote, to remind and encourage college students and all Iowans to register and participate in the November general election.

“There are more than 300,000 college students in Iowa and I hope all of them participate in the November election,” Secretary Pate said.

“I encourage all Iowans to visit MyIowaVote.com. There, they can register to vote, update their voter registration information, locate their polling place, and opt-in to receive a series of text or email reminders for when to vote,” Pate said. “It’s a phenomenal tool that you can access online anytime. We are encouraging schools, universities, businesses, organizations and political parties to utilize My Iowa Vote.”

MyIowaVote.com is developed through the TurboVote technology offered by Democracy Works, a non-partisan organization dedicated to making voting simpler. MyIowaVote.com provides tools that can be inserted into any website as an I-frame, sent as a link in an email, and inserted into any social media site, for free.

Fisher named “Friend of

Agriculture”

MONTOUR- Representative Dean Fisher of Montour has been designated a “Friend of Agriculture” by the Iowa Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (PAC). Fisher is seeking the House District 72 seat that includes Tama County and parts of Marshall and Black Hawk counties.

“I’m delighted to once again receive this designation as a Friend of Agriculture”, said Fisher. “As a former engineer and the owner of a Heritage Farm I understand the issues facing Iowa’s agriculture economy from the factory to the farmstead. I will continue to fight for lower spending and taxes so that we don’t add to our farm family’s burden in this uncertain agriculture economy.”

“Candidates earn the Friend of Agriculture designation by supporting issues that directly impact Iowa’s agricultural economy,” said Audubon County farmer and IFBF PAC Chair, Randy Dreher.
