Wanda Arp

Wanda Elene (Smith) Arp, 79, of Tama, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Visitation will be held, Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama followed by a luncheon and Celebration of Life at the Tama American Legion.

Wanda was born on October 12, 1946, in Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Kathleen (Bidwell) Smith.

Wanda graduated from South Tama High School in 1964. She went to beauty school and then Marshalltown Community College for nursing. Wanda worked in the nursing field in the states of Washington and Iowa.

On February 26, 1964, she was united in marriage to Dean Arp in Marshalltown, Iowa. Wanda was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and going to the casino. Wanda also liked gardening, golf, quad and snowmobile riding with Dean, and anything outside. Helping on the farm and keeping her family in line was a big part of her life.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Dean of Tama; her children, Aaron (Maria) Arp of Tama, Whitney (Robert) Earles of Toledo, and Jason Arp of Tama; six grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Earles, Cortney Arp (Bryce McCollister), Cody (Lauren) Arp, Garrett Arp, Logan Arp, and Sydney Arp; three great-grandchildren, Mylo and Casey Arp, and Chase McCollister; two brothers, Vernon Smith of Tama, and Lloyd Smith of Toledo; sisters-in-law, Janice Smith of Tama, and Marlys Smith of Gilman; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; granddaughter, Savannah Arp; two brothers, Ronald Smith, and Wendell Smith.

A memorial fund will be established.
