Kenneth “Kenny” Bacon

TAMA-Kenneth (Kenny) Earl Bacon was born on May 15th, 1962 in Marshalltown, IA. The son of Roger Bacon & Earlene (Smith) Bacon. It is with deep sorrow & profound love that we announce the passing of Kenny, who left us on Thursday June 25th at the University of IA Hospitals in Iowa City with his family at his side after a fearless battle with cancer.

He graduated from South Tama High School in 1981. On November 10th, 1984 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jill Kremenak. They were blessed with a daughter Madeline (Madie) White. Kenny cherished his moments with his family. He was the rock, the provider & ultimate protector of Jill, Madie, Brody, & Wrenley.

From an early age, Kenny understood the value of a hard day’s work. He was a jack of all trades working for his dad at Bacon Construction, Bituminous, FS, Spooner Grocery, his father-in law at Twin Cities Construction & his prize accomplishment was starting his own business, Twin Cities Construction, Inc in 1997 with the support of so many others. He took great pride in the many projects he completed in the Tama-Toledo area including his partnership with Kelly Smith & Paul VanHamme forming KKP a housing development in Toledo.

Beyond work, Kenny’s passions were: his yearly boating trips with friends & family including Jill, Madie, & Kenny’s annual water skiing behind the boat together, riding his Harley with his buddies & his yearly family snow ski trip to Colorado. Recently the family was spending time at their Condo at The Lake of the Ozarks where they were able to make everlasting memories together with family & friends.

Kenny was very witty & had many wise words of wisdom. You should feel honored if you were a recipient or in collaboration with his humor. Kenny always wanted to be remembered for all the LAUGHTER & SMILES.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Jill of Tama, his daughter, Madeline (Brody) White of Norwalk, one precious granddaughter, Wrenley of Norwalk. Mother Earlene Bacon of Grinnell, Siblings Lisa Bacon of Grinnell, Laurie Gibson of Marion, Brian (Anne) Bacon of Ankeny, Brad (Dana) Bacon of Sonoma, CA, sister-in-law Diana Spooner of Bluffton, SC & several nieces & nephews.

Preceding him in death was his father Roger Bacon, mother-in-law Donna Kremenak, father-in-law Albert Kremenak, maternal & paternal grandparents, nieces Nicole Gibson & Polly Spooner.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 18th, 2026 from 5-9pm at the Tama-Toledo Country Club.

A Memorial Fund will be established.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
