Danny Robinson
Danny Charles Robinson of Phoenix, Arizona passed away April 16, 2025, at age 90.
Danny was born on August 20, 1934, in Unionville Missouri, the son of Walter and Cleo Robinson. Walter moved the family to Tama Iowa where they settled for life. Danny married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Metz shortly after both graduated from high school. Danny served proudly with The United States Army from 1955 till honorably discharged in 1957. During his time of service, he and Charlene gave birth to their first son, Douglas. After his time in the army, Danny rejoined Charlene back in Tama. Their second son, David was born a year later. After working a few years at the local paper mill, Danny took a job with Western Electric and moved the family to Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in Omaha till the fall of 1968 when Danny was offered a position in Phoenix, Arizona with AT&T Technologies. Having accepted the offer, they moved the family to Phoenix where he would spend the entirety of his life. Danny and Charlene continued their loving relationship till her passing in 1989. Danny retired from AT&T in 1994. Danny continued an active life including many friendships, fraternal activities, and many hobbies after retirement.
Among Danny's many roles in life were baseball coach, artist, actor, musician, pilot, sailor, sports car enthusiast, off road enthusiast, amateur astronomer and a great dad!
Danny was affiliated with several fraternal organizations including, American Legion, Eagles, Freemasons, and a very active tenure with El Zaribah shrine Phoenix, AZ.
Danny is survived by his sons Douglas (Lori), David and grandchildren Colby and Charlene. Including many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Charlene, parents Walter and Cleo, sisters Mary and Nellie, and brother Granvell.
A Celebration of life will be held at The Tama American Legion 1105 E. 5th St. Tama, IA 52339, 12 noon, Saturday June 27th.
