Leonard “Lennie” Wayne Vajgrt, 70, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on May 30, 2026, under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. With honor, Adams Celebration of Life is serving the family.

Lennie was born on August 16, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Leonard E. and Mary (Stepanek) Vajgrt. He attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and later graduated from South Tama High School.

In 1972, Lennie enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he began a long career as a truck driver, traveling coast to coast across the country.

Lennie was first united in marriage to Marsha Kriegel. To this union, a daughter, Angie (Vajgrt) Ryan, was born. The couple later divorced.

On March 17, 1988, Lennie married Jane Cavanaugh of Reinbeck. Together they made their home in Reinbeck until 2011, when they relocated to their cabin in Guttenberg, Iowa. Lennie was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing alongside his wife. Some of their favorite hunting adventures took place near their cabin in Guttenberg and on trips to Missouri. They especially enjoyed fishing at Lake Fork, Texas, with longtime friend Johnnie Glass, as well as fishing in Chetek, Wisconsin, with many good friends.

Lennie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life. Whether behind the wheel of a truck, casting a line into the water, or spending time with family and friends, he embraced life with enthusiasm and appreciation for the simple things.

At the time of his passing, he remained employed by Pattison Sand of Clayton, Iowa

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jane Vajgrt; daughter, Angie (John) Ryan of Russell, Iowa; stepsons, Mark (Jana) Bystricky and Jon (Cody) Bystricky, both of Reinbeck; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, John Vajgrt of Van Horne; sister, Barb Vajgrt of Cedar Rapids; two nephews; and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard E. and Mary Vajgrt.
