Nancy Sund
Nancy Randall Sund, 76, Toledo, died Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Kavanagh Hospice Home in Des Moines after a three-month illness. A gathering for Nancy’s friends and family will be at The Flaming Office, Toledo, from 2 pm. – 4 p.m.. on Saturday, Feb. 28.
She was born May 1, 1949, at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Clarence and Phyllis Randall. Nancy attended grade schools in Des Moines, Toledo and Florida and junior and senior high at Tama-Toledo / South Tama, graduating in 1967. She received an AA degree from Marshalltown Community College and attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.
Nancy was employed by H&R Block and medical pickup and delivery routes in the Waterloo area. She was a third generation Toledo business person as co-owner of the Hotel Toledo and On Broadway Food and Lounge in the 1980s-90s. She then served as advertising director and manager for The Toledo Chronicle and Tama News-Herald until her retirement in 2018.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie (Tim) Eppler, Lincoln, Neb., son, Brian Sund, Des Moines, and beloved grandchildren: Mabel Eppler, St. Paul, Minn,, Parker, Alex and Rory Sund, of Des Moines; brother, Steve Randall, Walnut Creek, Calf., and nephews Adam and Jake.; sister Merry Randall and nephew Joshua (Jill) Curphy, of North Liberty, Iowa; niece, Jill Lust, of Joshua tree, Calf..; and companion John Speer, Toledo.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Janet Merck and nephew, Travis Curphy.
