Mildred Wade

Mildred (Millie) Ellen Blake Wade, of Des Moines, passed away on January 13, 2026, at Valley View Village in Des Moines. Mildred's wishes were to have a short committal service which took place at Iles Grandview Park Chapel in Des Moines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026. She will be interred at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery next to her husband, Robert.

Mildred was born November 28, 1943, in Toledo, Iowa, daughter of Kennerh Mason and Ruth Iowa (Berger) Blake.

Mildred graduated from Toledo high school with the Class of 1962, the last class to graduate before it became South Tama Schools. She moved to Des Moines where she worked for the Equitable Life of Iowa in the Information Technology Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at 10th and Pleasant for many years.

Mildred marred Robert (Bob) A. Wade August 8, 1965, and they enjoyed 51 years together before his passing July 3, 2017.

Mildred is survived by her three sisters: Naomi Anthony, Marshalltown, Mary C. Dvorak, Cedar Rapids, and her twin sister Margaret (Vernon) Waterman, Melbourne, IA and many loving extended family members of Mildred and Bob.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, husband Bob, brother Robert B. Blake and brothers-in-law Carl Anthony and Bernard Dvorak and sister-in-law Darlene Blake.

The families would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of the Midwest and Valley View Village staff for their kindness and compassion to Mildred while under their care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist church, Midwest of Iowa Hospice or the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
