Beverly “Bev” Blocker

TAMA-Beverly Susan “Bev” Blocker, 77, of Tama, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 11 AM-4 PM at the Toledo Heights Park Shelter House.

Beverly was born on March 25, 1948, in Illinois, the daughter of Ansel and Katherine (Minor) Shoemaker.

On June 7, 1968, she married Kenny Blocker in Tama, Iowa. Bev previously worked at Pamida in Toledo and then Meskwaki Bingo & Casino for several years.

In her younger years, Bev was a member of Ridge Riders Saddle Club. She loved her horses and dogs and liked trail rides and camping. Her fear of snakes seemed to attract them to her. Bev was a big part of her grandchildren’s lives and the memories of their activities with her will never be forgotten. Tea with milk and sugar was her cure all.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Kenny of Tama; two daughters, Wendy Hintermeister of Toledo, and Holly Higgins (Brandy) of Tama; her grandchildren, Vincent (Destiny) Hintermeister of Dysart, Wyatt Hintermeister (Luke) of Des Moines, and Hunter Niedermann of North English; step-great grandsons, Oakley and Warren Cox; brother, David (Verna) Shoemaker of Grand Junction, CO; many nieces and nephews; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, William Shoemaker; son-in-law, Kevin Hintermeister; and nephew, Jeffrey Shoemaker.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
