Mary Kaloupek

TOLEDO-Mary Faye Kaloupek, 90, of Toledo, passed away August 1, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. It was her wish to be cremated and Private Graveside Services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.

Mary was born February 22, 1935, in Runnels, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Evelyn (Brewer) Gulling.

She attended school in Colfax and Waterloo. Mary then attended Marshalltown Community College for one year.

On September 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Kaloupek at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mary was a secretary at George Stein Motor Company for seventeen years, worked at State Farm Insurance in Toledo, and then was a writer for United Fire and Casualty Insurance Company. Mary retired in 1996 to take care of her husband and worked three years at Kwik Star in Toledo. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and square dancing.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Jim) Bailey of Marshalltown, and Barbara Brown of Marshalltown; daughter-in-law, Dee Kaloupek of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Pingel of Fort Dodge, David (Teisha) Kaloupek of Fort Dodge, and Joshua Bailey of Marshalltown; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister, Carol Overton; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Charles “Chuck” in 2015; son, Rodney Lee Kaloupek; son-in-law, Ronnie Brown; two brothers, Richard Gulling, and Robert Gulling; and brother-in-law, Russ Overton.

A memorial fund will be established.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
