Alvin “Al” Price
TAMA-Alvin Robert Price, 80, of Tama, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025 at UnityPoint-Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Alvin was born on November 13, 1944, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Orville Robert and Maxine (Lennox) Price.
He graduated from Eddyville High School in 1962.
On July 9, 1965, he was united in marriage to Patricia Melsa at the Tama Methodist Church. Al worked for the Iowa DOT for thirty-five years as a mechanic, retiring in 2006.
Al was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church in rural Malcom, the International Harvester Chapter 5 of Iowa, Mid Iowa Antique Power Association, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. When the boys were young, they enjoyed fishing and camping. In his retirement years, he liked working on lawnmowers, small engine repair, and blacksmith work.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Patty of Tama; two sons, Brian Price of Tama, and Brad (Tammy) Price of Keystone; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Melvin Price.
Memorials may be directed to the Sheridan United Methodist Church in rural Malcom.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
