Blanche Manfull

Blanche Manfull, of Toledo, died Saturday, May 24, 2025 at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Malcom.

Her family will receive friends at the visitation held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am.

Blanche Lucille King was born June 19, 1932, to Benjamin A. King and Frances (Broders) King. She graduated from Grinnell High School and began working for two different local insurance companies in Grinnell. Blanche enjoyed bowling and going weekly to dances in local towns prior to marriage.

She married Floyd (Shorty) Manfull on Feb 11, 1971. Blanche began life as a farm wife helping her husband Shorty. Eventually they settled on their own farm near Montour, Iowa. Blanche and Shorty spent a few years taking trips in their motorhome. Blanche still enjoyed mowing the lawn with her riding lawn mower until they moved to town.

Blanche was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tama for many years. She liked to sing in the choir and participated in the women's groups.

Blanche is survived by her step-daughter, Bette Scheid, of Toledo; granddaughter, Mandy (Jason) Lekin, of Toledo and their children, Taylor and Lane; grandson, Wesley Scheid, of Louisiana; grandson, Barry Corder, of Toledo, and his children, Maddie, Amberlin and Jace; her sisters-in-law: Joyce Skala, Joan Gibson and Joyce Manfull; her nieces and nephews: Linda Bradshaw, Laura Schroeder, James King, Keith King, Connie Newman, Kathryn Rose, Steve King, Kevin King, Susan Stinson, Dale Kasal, Mark Kasal and Sara Why. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings: Lona DeBondt, Raymond King, Lois Kasal and Robert King; her step-daughter, Bonnie Sawyer; her nephews: Kenneth King, Alan Lidtka and Alan Kasal; and her niece, Karla King.
