Alan Baker

TAMA-Alan David Baker, 83, of Tama died May 22, 2025 peacefully at his home surrounded by family under the care of Essence of Life Hospice. Per Alan’s wishes, no services are planned.

Alan was born on July 15th,1941, the youngest of four children born to Lilburn and Frances Baker.

Alan was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 where he spent two years. He returned to Tama to tend to the family farm which became his life’s work. He was very proud of his farm!! He loved the Hawkeyes, his beloved beagle Tootie, FOX News, an occasional dirty martini with extra olives and any dessert with Cool Whip.

Alan is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Teri; children, Matthew Baker (Brooke) of Tama and their daughter Ella, Keri (late Randy) Mackey of Farley and their son Randy Jr, Tim (Marivel) Bruner of Cedar Rapids and their four children, Maricella, Clarissa, Greg and Maria. He is also survived by two bonus children, Jamie (late Larry) Doherty of Central City and their daughter Olivia, Mike (Kelly) Stoos of Altoona and their three children, Kayla, Kendal and Keaton; one sibling, Larry of Ft. Collins, CO; one brother-in-law, Steve (Lisa) Carney of Cedar Rapids; and many extended family members.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; brother Don; sister Joann; sons-in-law, Randy and Larry; great grandson, Isaac; and grandson Eli.
