Barbara Koth

TAMA-Barbara Kaye Koth, 72, of Tama, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025 at her home in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. It was her wish to be cremated and there will be no public services at this time.
Barbara was born on December 31, 1952, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond James and Gladys Ann (Hinders) Taft.
She graduated from Grundy Center High School and from University of Northern Iowa.
Barbara was married to Stephen Thompson, and after he passed away, she married James Koth Sr. on August 2, 2003, in Las Vegas, NV. He passed away on June 14, 2014.
Barbara was a Speech Language Pathologist and worked for the AEA in several school districts. Her hobbies included crafting, especially Stampin’ Up, and reading. Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids.
Survivors include her children, Shayla (Kevin) Thomas of Tama, Christine (Chris) Popielarczyk of Illinois, James (Stephanie) Koth Jr. of Ohio, and Rebecca Koth (Jesse Bonin) of Toledo; daughter-in-law, Nicole Meyer of Newton; ten grandchildren, Piper, Jaxson, Brooke, Maximus, Titus, Ryker, Atticus, Jace, Tristan, and Jovi.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Stephen Thompson and James Koth Sr., and son, Chris Meyer.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future charitable donations.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
