Rodney Emerson

Rodney Allen Emerson 90, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away April 28, 2025, at Corridor Crossing Place Memory Care.
Graveside service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Rector Cemetery with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Online condolences can be sent to family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
Rodney was born December 2, 1934, in Chelsea, IA, the son of Max A. and Lois (Tappan) Emerson. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1952. Following high school, he served in United States Army. After returning home Rodney graduated from Gates Business College. On June 15, 1963, Rodney was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Brezina at Chelsea Methodist Church. To this union they raised three children.
Rodney worked for his family-owned business, Chelsea Feed Mill and owned and operated Mr. R’s for over 20 years.
Rodney loved caring for people, taking many to Dr’s appointments or wherever they needed to go. He was a great Kolache’s baker, winning first place at the Iowa State Fair. Rodney was active in his faith through bible study and a member of Chelsea United Methodist Church. He was a dedicated 50 year Mason, attending all Masonic Lodge meetings.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children: Rhonda (Scott) Conway, of Cedar Rapids, Amy (Dwayne) Dunning, of Belle Plaine, Max Emerson, of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Nathan Emerson; step-grandchildren, Diana (Danny) Viall, Deanna Dunning, Chrissy (Russell) Barker.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Brian and Terry; step-granddaughter, Roberta Dunning.
The family would like to thank everyone at Corridor Crossing Place for the exceptional care he received the past three years and a special thank you to St. Lukes Hospice for their care in his final days.
