Roberta Scheid

MONTOUR-Roberta June Scheid, 92, of Montour, passed away, Friday, February 21, 2025 at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Living Faith United Methodist Church, Montour Center. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church.

Roberta was born on April 17, 1932, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of John Arthur and Nellie (Thiel) Tvedt.

She graduated from Montour High School and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI).

On August 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Leonard Scheid at the Montour Methodist Church. Roberta was a homemaker and they had fostered kids periodically. She previously worked at Rube’s Steakhouse in Montour.

Roberta was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church, Montour Center, where she was an organist and pianist since she was in the seventh grade. She was formerly active in the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, gardening, and bowling. Roberta loved playing cards and games with her kids and grandkids.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Nancy) Scheid of Garwin, Pamela Calvert of Pella, Kent (Rachel) Scheid of Montour, and Penni (Mark) Reed of Johnston; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Carol Rinella of Florida; sister-in-law, Gail Tvedt of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leonard on December 10, 2016; two sisters, Virginia (Dick) Fredericks, and Kathy Casey; and one brother, Douglas Tvedt.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown or Living Faith United Methodist Church.
