Karl Moeller

TAMA-Karl Walter Moeller, 55, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the South Tama County High School in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 9-11 AM prior to the service at the school.

Karl was born on March 19, 1969, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Hans and Linda (Bradley) Moeller.

He graduated from South Tama High School in 1987, and then entered the service. Karl served his country in the U.S Army from 1987 to 1989 in the Military Police.

On July 4, 2012, he was united in marriage to Doreen Viet-Wessels in Toledo, Iowa.

Karl was a custodian for the South Tama School District for nineteen years, working at all the locations at some point but mainly at the Middle School. Prior to that, he worked at Maytag in Newton for eight years.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. Karl loved all kinds of music, especially KISS. After he got out of the service, he played Bass Guitar in a band called Smokin’. Karl played Soccer for his dad in the Twin City Kickers. His hobbies included fishing, hiking, four wheeling, and going to the gun range.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Doreen of Tama; his children, Bradley Moeller of Marshalltown, Adam Geerdes of Wellsburg, and Autumn Morrow of Millersburg; grandchildren, Valerie Moeller, Colter and Layne Geerdes, Aubrey Morrow, Austin Welch, and Piper Welch; mother, Linda Moeller of Tama; sister, Julie Junker of Omaha, NE; three nephews; one niece; mother-in-law, Karla Wessels; sister and brother-in-law, Veronica and Chris Uthe; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hans; father-in-law, Darwin Viet; brother-in-law, Vernon Junker; and sister-in-law, Sandra Donovan.
