Bernadine Kearney was born on March 20, 1936 to Ambrose and Bernadine Ellen (Doran) Kearney. Her parents had to travel into Tama three days before she was born, so they would not be stuck in the blizzard that was on the way. Bernadine graduated from the Clutier High School in 1954. On February 5, 1955, Bernadine was united in marriage to Harold Schuett at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She was a devoted farm wife and helped Harold run their farm together.

Bernadine was a fiery Irish woman, with a perfect balance of being a straight shooter, competitive, caring and compassionate. She never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s functions. One story the family remembers was when Bernadine stopped a baseball game and wanted to discuss a few things with the umpire. Bernadine would offer anyone help if needed and was a caring and affectionate role model. She was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Bernadine is survived by her children: Danny (Norma) Schuett, Susan (Jeff) Krough and Steve (Tammy) Schuett; grandchildren: Drew (Becky) Schuett, Tyler Schuett, Ashley (Cory) Sawyer, Dustin (Katie) Schuett, Chase (Emily) Schuett, Traci (Jeff) Robson, Lanese (Travis) Thompson and Lynnae (Lloyd) Couillard; great-grandchildren: Treven and Shawna Schuett, August, Hudson and Cora Schuett, Ryker and Rylee Sawyer, Finlee and Sutton Schuett, Alex and Autumn Thompson, Sage Couillard and Zachary, Cayden and Delia Robson. Bernadine is also survived by her siblings: Katherine Kunch, Ambrose Kearney and Mary Jo Brandt along with nephew: Gary Lenhart.

Bernadine is preceded in death by her loving husband: Harold; parents: Ambrose and Bernadine and siblings: Jane Svoboda and Danny Kearney.
