Vernon Parizek

ELBERON: Vernon Parizek, 94, of Elberon, passed away on February 6, 2024, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, due to complications of a stroke.

Visitation was held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services were held the following day on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Elberon Christian Church.

Vernon was born on July 7, 1929, the son of Fred and Lucille (Konicek) Parizek. Vernon graduated from Keystone High School with the class of 1947.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Nielsen on November 15, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They lived on the Parizek Family Farm for many years. Vernon was a member of the Elberon Christian Church, and formerly the Secretary of the Elberon Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Elberon Rural Fire Department, Hawkeye Tractor Association, Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association, Genealogical Society of Tama and The Tama County Cattleman’s Association.

He is survived by his son; Randall (Lesa) Parizek, of Elberon, daughters; Rachel Parizek, of Traer, and Christy Lichty, of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren (with one on the way), 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 son-in-laws; Gordy Clarke, of Hudson, and William King, of Cedar Rapids, and 1 sister-in-law Beverly Parizek, of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents, wife Wilma, daughters; Rita King and Cathy Clarke, son-in-law Tom Lichty, brothers; Stanley Parizek, and Leland Parizek, sisters; Margaret Parizek in infancy, Bernice Dulin, Ethel Goble and Lillian Musel, sister-in-laws: Wanda Lastovka, and Iona Nielsen, brother-in-laws; Herbert Dulin, Lester Musel, Stanley Gobel and Alvin Lastovka.
