Betty Posusta

TOLEDO-Betty Louise Posusta, 93, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Public Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 4:30-6:30 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Betty was born on July 26, 1930, in rural Union, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Orpha (Carter) Caster.

She graduated from Union High School. In high school, she was on a traveling basketball team, which she was very proud of.

On January 25, 1949, she married Arthur Posusta at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. They farmed east of Tama. Betty worked at Clifton’s in Tama and Sun Mart in Toledo, retiring thirty-one years ago. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, Sudoku and reading. Her greatest joy was going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities and spending time with them, including the annual shopping spree.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Marie Popelka of Traer; son-in-law, Duane Leek of Toledo; daughter-in-law, Jean Posusta of Billings, MT; grandchildren, Denise (Tim) Hemann of Marshalltown, Rick (Cheryl) Popelka of Traer and Daneen (Dirk) Henle of Toledo; great-grandchildren, Allie Kriz, Haley Hemann, Dalaynee Henle, Draysen (Audrey) Henle, Megan, Tyler and Tate Popelka; one brother, Roy Caster of Union; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Arthur Posusta; son, David Posusta; daughter, Debbie Leek; son-in-law, Richard Popelka; siblings, Wendell Caster, James Caster, Ray Caster in infancy, Margaret Sanders, Wayne Caster and Reva Dostal.

A memorial fund will be established.
