James Snyder

TOLEDO-James Wendle Snyder, 92, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. It was his wish to be cremated and there will be no public services at this time.

James was born on January 16, 1931 in Glidden, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Marie (Schultz) Snyder.

He attended schools in Glidden, IA, Elmhurst, IL, Conrad and Toledo, IA.

On August 14, 1949, he was united in marriage to R Lou Dixon at the Methodist Parsonage in Toledo.

James worked at Lennox in Marshalltown for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1993. He also worked at Schafer’s doing egg candling in Toledo. Prior to that, he did odd jobs like heating and air conditioning on the side. James was a member of the Odd Fellows and Lennox Union. He enjoyed Ham and CB radios as a hobby.

Survivors include his wife of seventy-four years, R Lou, of Toledo; two daughters, Joni Hall, of Council Bluffs, IA and Mary Snyder, of Toledo; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and one niece.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, James and John Snyder; grandson, Ryan Hall; sister, Jean Schall and brother, Don Snyder.

A memorial fund will be established.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
