Eugene Flora

TAMA-Eugene Flora, 78, of Tama, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at his home in Tama under the care of his family and Iowa River Hospice. A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4-6 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Eugene was born on January 12, 1945, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Berniece (Spencer) Flora.

He graduated from Baxter High School in 1963.

In August of 1963, Eugene married the love of his life and high school sweet heart, Rebecca Damman, at St John’s United Church of Christ in Melbourne, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three daughters.

From the time he graduated high school, Eugene farmed in Tama and neighboring communities. He later worked for Tama Paper Board, until retiring.

Eugene loved the Lord and passed on his faith to his family. He spent countless hours playing with his grandchildren. He would attach a wagon to the mower and drive them around. Eugene enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in his garden with tomatoes, cucumbers and fruit trees. He was always thinking of others and was the best role model that his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren could ever ask for.

Survivors include his daughters, Jody (Daryl) Carmer of Marshalltown, Jill (Rustal) Martin of Toledo and Jennifer (Cliff) Armstrong of Brooklyn; eight granddaughters, Candace Carmer, Andrea (Trevor) Armstong, Amber Weber, Kelly (Aaron) Hicks, Michelle Kroeger, Stacie Carmer, Emilee (Jacob) Santos and Aimee Ferriss (Sean Sorrells Jr.); three grandsons, Timothy Lamb, Travis (JoAnna) Lamb and Colton Kroeger; and his great grandchildren, Alice, Liliana, and Aeris Armstong, Kingston Kroeger, Archer Williams, Noah Santos, Wesley Lamb and one great grandchild on the way.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife of over 50 years, Rebecca; one brother, John Flora; and one sister, Ann Flora.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice.
