James Daily

James Raymond Daily, 84, of Belle Plaine, IA, passed away Nov. 8th, 2023, at home under the care of Essence of Life Hospice his family was by his side.

He was born on April 8th, 1939, at the Prairie Creek farm on Highway 30 to Patrick and Jeannette (Raymond) Daily. He married the love of his life Kathryn Faye Jacobi on April 28th, 1962.

Jim graduated from Belle Plaine High School with the class of ’57. He worked at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years, after retiring from there he worked at Benco Mfg. and then he delivered parts for Carquest. He was Mayor of Belle Plaine for 8 years and was proud to serve “Our Little Town.”

He is survived by his children: Richard Daily, of Belle Plaine, Kelly (Kurt) Hoerner Feller, of Marion, Jean (David) Coover, of Belle Plaine and Nicole (Edgar) Shen, of Niceville, Florida. He has 7 grandchildren: Joshua Daily, Ross Pugh, Felicia Hoerner, Davis Coover, Danielle Stinson, Emily Clinton, Brigitte Shen and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Kathyrn; his parents, Patrick and Jeannette; brothers, Harold and Thomas; and sister, Shirley.

A celebration of life will be held at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service Belle Plaine on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 6 pm with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Drinks and storytelling to follow at the Belle Plaine Legion Hall.
