Richard Frundle, 92

Richard Frundle, 92 of Montour, Iowa, passed away early morning August 19th in his home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
Richard (Dick) was born in Legrand, Iowa on February 17th, 1931 to Merle and Anna (Tow) Frundle. He graduated from Montour High School in 1948. While in school, Dick loved playing basketball and showing beef and dairy cattle in 4-H. He attended Iowa State University until he enlisted into the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Dick started farming in 1954. On January 18th, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Long at the Little Brown Church. He and Mary enjoyed being members of the United Methodist church in Montour.
In Dick’s free time, he enjoyed fellowship with his neighbors and the Promise Keepers, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, going on long road trips, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Frundle; three children, Robert (Melissa) Frundle, Kathy (Dan) Frundle and Mary Beth Frundle; six grandchildren, Annie (Jake), Sarah, Bekah (Sam), Jesse, Samantha (Tommy), Zach. Two great grandchildren, Zion and Everett.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Anna, his sister Sharon (Frundle) McKinney and brother in-law Jim McKinney.
Services for Richard will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 beginning at 12:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Richard’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation.
