Neil H. Potter, 82

Neil H. Potter, 82, passed away peacefully May 29, 2023, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Neil Horace Potter was born February 20, 1941, in Marshalltown, IA, to Ralph & Leona (Cory) Potter.

As a young man Neil worked hard for his father Ralph who owned a local filing station. He enjoyed stock car racing on Friday nights at the Marshalltown speedway.

Neil was united in marriage in marriage to Linda Lee Beck on June 17th, 1962, in Belle Plaine, IA.

To this union three children were born, Neil Robert, Wendy Lee and John Dale.

He worked at Fisher Controls Governor Road in Marshalltown, IA, where after 31 years of employment he retired.

With his wife of 61 years they traveled, enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping and boating. Neil enjoyed and loved spending time with his wife Linda, their children as well as his grandchildren.

Neil is survived by his wife Linda, their children Neil R., of Des Moines, IA, Wendy L., of Alden, IA, John D. (Michelle), of Des Moines, IA. His brother Dale L., of AZ., & sister Mary J., of Oskaloosa, IA. Grandchildren: Brandi Potter, Eric Saltzman and Nathan (Breana) Saltzman. Five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Neil is preceded in death by his parents, sister Willa D. Nieman, brother Bruce C. Potter, niece Kelly, nephew Joel C., grandson Joshua R. Potter.

A celebration of life potluck will be held Saturday October 7, 2023, in Tama, IA, at Lincoln Highway Bridge Park, Noon to 4p.m.
