Barbara Ann (Abbe) Wacha

Barbara Ann (Abbe) Wacha passed away peacefully at the Iowa River Hospice Home Saturday, May 20, 2023, just nine days after the love of her life, Perry Wacha. We knew if Barb were the one to go first, Perry would quickly follow, but never dreamt that when he left this world, she would follow behind so quickly. Honestly don’t know why as usually where you saw one you saw the other. She was his world and he was hers. But let’s make one thing clear… she does NOT want to be buried in a potato chip can. I asked and she replied three times!

Barbara Ann Abbe was born October 27, 1946, to Leonard and Wilma (Princehouse) Abbe in Toledo, Iowa. Perry was also born that week to the Wachas, only in Marshalltown. Barb and Perry met in kindergarten going all through school together and the only problem I understood Perry had with Barb was she lived on a gravel road. Guess that was a short-lived problem for old Perry Dean.

Barb graduated high school from Toledo, Iowa, in 1964. From there going to work at Marshall Man. From that, Barb and Perry formed “Wacha GM ReProductions,” which they did from the home and at swap meets for many years. Then she also worked at Mycogen Seeds for a short time, which she really enjoyed.

Barb enjoyed working on genealogy, working with Tama Historical Society and The Daughters of the American Revolution. Also enjoyed spending time on trips with Perry when they could and spending time with family.

Barb is survived by her son, Scott and Cherie Wacha; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Micaela) Wacha and Kristin Wacha and great grandchildren, Sebashtian and Juniper.

Preceded in death by the love of her life, Perry Dean; her parents, Wilma and Leonard Abbe; sister, Karlene and brother-in-law, Don Foreman; brother, Jerry Wacha and mother and father-in-law, Carlton and Lillian (Kupka) Wacha.

Per the wishes of Barb and her family, cremation rites have been accorded and there are no formal services. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Barb and her family. To leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
