Douglas "DJ" Kahley, Jr., 27

Douglas “DJ” Kahley, Jr., 27, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023. DJ was born September 17, 1995, in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from Saydel High School in 2014. He attended school at APC to learn how to become a service technician for commercial floor cleaners. He then went on to sell Harley Davidson motorcycles and worked for Dewey Outlet in auto sales. DJ enjoyed riding his Harley and working on cars with his dad. He liked target shooting, fishing, listening to music, bowling, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was baptized at the First Church of God in 2006. He was a very kind person, had a goofy personality, and a heart of gold. He was an avid KC Chiefs fan and shared the same birthday as Patrick Mahomes.

He is survived by his father, Douglas (Ambur) Kahley, Sr.; his mother, Amy (Jacob) Behounek; sister, Riley (Jose) Fragoso; paternal grandmother, Linda (Will) Smith; maternal grandfather, Tony Kriegel; step-sisters, Alexa Carpenter and Keyeria Cooley; fiancŽe, Kalli Stougard (her daughter Grace); niece, Alecia; nephew, Noah; and many aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.

DJ was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jane Kriegel, and his paternal grandfather, Gary Kahley.

Services were held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at First Church of God, 4201 E. Douglas Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon after the funeral. Graveside services and luncheon will be done at a later time in Chelsea, Iowa.
