Leonard Henry “Hank” Kriegel Jr., 84

Leonard Henry “Hank” Kriegel Jr., 84, of Tama, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Leonard was born on August 26, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Leonard Henry and Lillian (Tesar) Kriegel Sr.

He graduated from Tama High School in 1957.

Hank was married to Mary Baldock and together they had three children. They later divorced. On August 22, 1981, he married Janet Karr.

Hank retired in 2000 as a machinist from Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. He loved fishing, hunting, restoring old cars and riding motorcycles. Hank also liked camping and boating in his younger years.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, of Tama; his children: Jim (Valerie) Kriegel, of Kellogg, Jeff (Linda) Kriegel, of Boone, and Jodi (Rick) Hopper, of Toledo; eight grandchildren: Nichole (Eric) Speth, Jonathan (Sierra) Kriegel, Benjamin (Gabrielle) Kriegel, Allison Kriegel, Nicholas Kriegel, Nate Kriegel, Rick Hopper and Emily Hopper; eight great grandchildren; his sister, Sally (John) Willett, of Tama; his sister-in-law, Ronda Kriegel, of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Mark Kriegel; sister, Anna Lea (Jerry) Arnold; grandson, Thomas Hopper and niece, Ann Willett.
