Robert Neil “Bob” Alexander, 84, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Robert was born on June 1, 1938, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Loren and Bertha (Quigley) Alexander.

He received his GED with the Tama Class of 1956.

Robert was a career service man in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1976, serving as a non-Commission Officer in charge of the Commissary. After his service, he worked at Grinnell College, Hy-Vee, Casey’s and the Tama Pack.

On August 17, 1958, he was united in marriage to Pauline Badger in Tama, Iowa. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was past President, Fireman’s Association and Air Force Sergeant’s Association. He was a collector of many things and loved flea markets and auctions. Bob enjoyed country music and watching sports on TV. He was also very active in raising his grandchildren in their school years.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Pauline, of Tama; three daughters: Debora Alexander, of Tama, Peggy Anderson, of Tama, and Pamela White, of Tama; four grandchildren: Cheria (Gena) Wolgamott, Courtney Lareza (Alex Cazares), Hunter White and Gina (Cheyene) Connell; four great grandchildren: Wesley (Hannah) Wolgamott, Teal Ohnesorge, Karina Lareza and Adalia Cazares; two great-great grandchildren, Winter and Genevieve Wolgamott; two sisters, Linda Cullor, of Kansas City, and Susan Tharp, of Tama; Godson, Mark Hayes; sisters-in-law, Jan Alexander and Sherri Alexander and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Robert E. Anderson; stepmother, Goldie Alexander; two brothers, Ray and Joe Alexander; step-brother, Denver Johnson; brother-in-law, Roy Tharp; nephew, Jonathan Cullor; and niece, Stacey Alexander.

A memorial fund will be established.
