Lasiene Cher Hennessy, 53
Lasiene Cher Hennessy, 53, of Tama, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at her home under the care of UnityPoint Hospice. Traditional Graveside Services was held Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the McIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. A Traditional Wake was held Sunday evening, October 2, 2022, at the Eagle Clan/Lasley Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.
Lasiene was born on March 3, 1969, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Hennessy and Rae Jean Lasley.
She graduated from South Tama County High School in 1987.
Lasiene was a Senior Buyer for the Meskwaki Casino. She enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes football, the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sports. Lasiene loved being with family, posting stories on Facebook, garage sales, farmers markets and going to the Casino.
Survivors include her children: Michelle (Seth) Summer, of North Liberty, Nolan (Jessica) Roberts, of Cedar Rapids, and Jordan (Mark) Bear, of Tama; mother, Rae Jean Lasley, of Tama; stepfather, Larry Shefchik, of Toledo; sisters: Tina Durnin, of Toledo, Adonica Hennessy, of Toledo, and Delrae Hennessy, of Toledo; brothers: Jody Durnin, of Davenport, and James Shefchik, of Toledo; grandchildren: Reanna, Trayton, Skyler, Maddux, Malachi, Macael, Marcus, Percy and Anistyn; aunts: Wanda Lasley, Gayle Walker and Mary Youngbear; numerous relatives; significant other, Todd Skala; and adopted brothers, Leland Morgan and Sean Keahna.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Donald Hennessy; grandparents, Harvey and Kewanee Lasley and Art and Alby Hennessy; brother, Perry Durnin; nieces Starla and Delphine Durnin; and aunts and uncles.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
