Irene Julia Brezina Dolezal, 95, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Dwayne Thoman and Deacon Joe Behounek as officiants. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church.
Irene was born on September 11, 1926, in Irving, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolph and Tillie (Chesick) Brezina.
She attended school in rural Elberon and Highland Township.
On June 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ernest James Dolezal at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. They lived on a farm in Highland Township, Tama, Iowa, where Ernest farmed. Before she married, Irene did housework for the neighbors. She was an avid Hawkeye fan, loved her garden, flowers and enjoyed fishing with her husband in Canada. Irene was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she was a member of CCW.
Survivors include her three children: Larry James Dolezal, Gary Joseph Dolezal and Mary Ann Dolezal, all of Tama; daughter-in-law, Ellie Dolezal, of Toledo; one grandson, Steven (Mercy) Dolezal; two great grandchildren, Rylee and Reece Dolezal; one brother, Lawrence (Doris) Brezina, of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ernest in 1990; one son, Jerry Allen Dolezal stillborn at birth; two sisters, Helen Kasal and Blanche Cibula; five brothers: Lester, Milvoy, Charles, James and Rudolph Brezina.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Iowa River Hospice.
