Vivian “Manekawewa” Kapayou
Vivian “Manekawewa” Kapayou, 81, of Tama, passed away, Monday, January 31, 2022 at UnityPoint/Marshalltown Medical Center. A Traditional Wake will be held Monday evening at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Settlement with Mike Keahna as speaker.
Vivian was born on November 20, 1940, on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Mike Keahna and Mabel Davenport.
Vivian was united in marriage to Everett Kapayou. She enjoyed watching country western shows, playing bone dice, and taking care of her dog, Rocky.
Survivors include sons, Mike (Christina), and Virgil; daughters, Vicki, Valerie, Veronica, Sandra, Mary, Vangie, Ann, and Vestana; special grandchildren, Devon (Lynnae), Christopher, and Martha; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Everett on August 16, 2006; grandparents, Alfred and Tta Tta Kosega Keahna; brothers, Gaston, Wilbur, Leo, and Duane; sisters, Elaine, Josephine, Betty, and Mae.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
