Duane Upah

Duane Ronald Upah, 74, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at UnityPoint/Marshalltown Medical Center. The family is respecting his wishes to not have a Celebration of Life or a Funeral Service.

Duane was born on July 31, 1947, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Lillian (Benda) Upah.

Duane served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On June 12, 1971, he was united in marriage to Vicki Kopsa. Duane retired from Superintendent of Public Works for the City of Toledo after forty-two years. His hobbies included fishing, farming, bull dozing, gardening, deer and coon hunting. Duane enjoyed hanging out in his garage, but his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-years, Vicki of Toledo; two sons, Shawn (Sara) Upah of Tama, and Lonnie (Jamie) Upah of Toledo; four grandchildren, Taylor, Brycelyn (Chayce O’Connor), Mylie, and Kai; siblings, Judy (Steve) Petersen of Chelsea, David (Sue) Upah of Vinton, Donna Radeke of Belle Plaine, and Deborah (Robert) Vandolah of Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, DeDe Kopsa of Tama; sister-in-law, Karen (Dennis) Wells of Basalt, CO, brothers-in-law, Jeff (Susan) Kopsa of Tama, and Joel (Laura) Kopsa of Tama; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; father-in-law, John Kopsa; and brother-in-law, Bob Radeke.
